Use:
On on max 1.5mm thick leather
Punch Hole with punch (included)
Insert Eyelet,  press through leather so that post protude from the back. 
Position the washer over the post at the back
Bend open the 2 pins at the back before securing the eyelet with the setter and mallet
Use a polyprop hammering board (clean without any holes or markings) and lay the eyelet face down on the clean surface
Position the setter at the back of the eyelet, making sure the post is protruding at the back - (it will need to fold over the reverse side of the leather to keep the eyelet in place)
Hammer the setter mildly with a mallet until the pins are flat against the reverse side of the leather.
PS:  To ensure you do not damage the face of the eyelet, do not hammer to hard. Rather hammer mildy 2 - 3 times.
